A Free Online Clock for the Classroom Board

This classroom clock puts the current time on your projector or interactive whiteboard in digits big enough to read from the back of the room. Choose Digital, Analog or Both, a 12-hour clock with AM/PM or a 24-hour clock, and whether to show seconds. Add the date under the clock, or switch to Today is… for a large weekday and date during morning meeting. The analog face has numbers and minute ticks, plus optional minute numbers and colored hands for telling-time lessons. Pick a Light, Dark or High contrast theme and add a countdown such as “Class ends in 12:30”. It runs in the browser with nothing to install and no account.

How to use the classroom clock

  1. Pick a clock style. Choose Digital, Analog or Both, then 12-hour or 24-hour. Turn on Show seconds for the digital clock, or turn the analog Second hand on or off. The clock reads the time from your device and updates every second.

  2. Add the date and a countdown. Under Date, choose Off, Date line or Today is…. To count down to the end of class, turn on Show a countdown, type the Countdown text (for example “Lunch starts”) and set the time in the At field.

  3. Put it on the big screen. Press Classroom Presentation Mode to fill the screen with the clock and hide ads. The Digital, Analog and Both buttons stay at the bottom so you can switch styles, and Exit or Esc brings you back.

Ways to use the Classroom Clock in class

  • Start morning meeting with the date

Set Date to Today is… so the board shows the weekday in large letters with the month, day and year below it. Students can read it aloud, copy it into their journals or use it for calendar time.

  • Practice telling time all day

Choose Both with Minute numbers and Colored hands turned on. The red hour hand and blue minute hand match the colored hours and minutes on the digital clock, so students can check how they read the analog face against the digits.

  • Count down to the end of class

Turn on Show a countdown, keep the text as Class ends and set the time your period ends. Students see how many minutes are left, and the line changes color in the last five minutes as a reminder to start cleaning up.

  • Keep a quiet clock on a second screen

Pick the Dark theme, hide seconds and the second hand, and open Classroom Presentation Mode on a spare monitor or TV. The clock stays readable without a bright white screen in the room.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the classroom clock get the time?

It shows the time and date from the clock and time zone of the device that opened the page, and updates every second. If the time looks wrong, correct the date and time settings on that computer or tablet and the classroom clock will follow.

Can I leave the clock on the projector all day?

Yes. Classroom Presentation Mode fills the screen and hides ads, and on devices that support it the screen is kept awake while the clock is presenting so the display does not go to sleep. Press Exit or Esc to leave.

How does the class-ends countdown work?

Turn on Show a countdown and set a time. Until that time each day, a line under the clock counts down, for example “Class ends in 12:30”. It changes color in the last five minutes and again in the last minute, then shows “Class ends now!” for one minute. With Chime on, a chime plays at that time once you have tapped or clicked the clock since opening the page, because browsers block sound until then.

Can I show a 24-hour clock?

Yes. Under Time format, choose 24-hour and the digital clock shows times like 14:45 without AM or PM. The countdown note in the settings uses the same format.

What does the High contrast theme look like?

High contrast shows white numbers and hands on a black background with yellow accents and thicker ticks. Light uses a white background and Dark uses a near-black slate background, and the theme also colors the screen in Classroom Presentation Mode.

Does the classroom clock remember my settings?

Yes. The clock style, time format, date option, theme, analog options and countdown are saved in this browser on this device, so the clock looks the same the next time you open it.
