A Fair Random Number Generator for the Classroom
Need a number fast? Pick a random number between 1 and 10 for a game, 1 and 100 for a number of the day, or any range you like for raffle tickets, seat numbers and lotteries. Every number comes from your browser’s cryptographically secure random generator, so each one has exactly the same chance. Draw one number or up to twenty at once, turn on No repeats to run a raffle, and project the result in big digits the whole class can read.
Pick a number in 3 steps
Set the range. Tap a quick range like 1–10, 1–100 or 1–1000, or type your own lowest and highest numbers — negative numbers work too.
Choose how many. Draw one number or up to 20 at once. Turn on No repeats so every number is different and numbers already drawn stay out until you press Start Over.
Generate and project. Press Generate and watch the digits roll to a stop. Classroom Presentation Mode fills the screen with ads hidden; Space or Enter draws again.
Ways to use the Random Number Generator in class
Number of the day
Generate a number from 1–100 (or 1–1000 for older grades) each morning. Students write it in words, show it with base-ten blocks, find ten more and ten less, and say whether it’s odd or even.
Numbered seats and jobs
Give each student a number, then draw with No repeats on to call on students, choose classroom helpers or set the order for presentations — everyone gets a turn before anyone goes twice.
Classroom raffles
Hand out numbered tickets for good behavior or reading logs, then draw winners on the projector with No repeats so the same ticket can’t win twice. Start Over puts every ticket back.
Instant math problems
Draw two numbers from 1–12 and ask for the product, or two numbers from 1–100 for addition and comparing. Draw several numbers at once to practice ordering from least to greatest.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the random number generator truly random?
Yes. Each number comes from the browser’s cryptographically secure random number generator with a method that avoids any bias, so every number in your range has exactly the same chance. The rolling digits are only an animation — the result is decided first.
How do I pick numbers without repeats, like a raffle?
Turn on No repeats. Every number in a draw will be different, and numbers you’ve already drawn stay out of later draws until you press Start Over. The display shows how many numbers are left in the range.
What is the biggest range I can use?
Any whole numbers from −1,000,000 to 1,000,000. Type the lowest and highest numbers, or use a quick range button. You can draw up to 20 numbers at a time.
Can I generate several random numbers at once?
Yes. Set How many numbers to anything from 1 to 20 and press Generate. They appear together in big digits. Turn on No repeats if every number in the draw must be different, for example when picking several raffle winners at once.
Can I use negative numbers?
Yes. Type a negative lowest number, such as −10 to 10, for integer practice. Any whole numbers from −1,000,000 to 1,000,000 work, and the generator treats every number in the range equally.
Does it remember my range for next time?
Yes. Your range, how many numbers, the No repeats setting and the numbers already drawn in raffle mode are saved in this browser, so a raffle can continue after a refresh. Nothing is uploaded.
