About the Alphabet Wheel (Random Letter A–Z)
A random letter is the starting point for dozens of quick literacy games. Spin for the letter of the day, a phonics sound to practice or the first letter for a category game. Turn on Remove Winner in Wheel Settings and each letter leaves the wheel once it’s drawn, so you can work through the whole alphabet without repeats.
Ways to use an alphabet wheel
Letter of the day
Spin each morning, then find objects, names and words around the room that start with that letter.
Category game
Spin a letter and name an animal, a food and a place that start with it before time runs out.
Phonics warm-up
Students say the letter name and its sound, then write it on a whiteboard in uppercase and lowercase.
Spelling challenge
Older students race to write the longest word they can that starts — or ends — with the letter.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can each letter come up only once?
Yes. Open Wheel Settings and turn on Remove Winner, or press Remove on the result card. Drawn letters leave the wheel until you press Put back or Reset Items.
Can I spin only vowels or only some letters?
Yes. Delete the letters you don’t want from the Wheel items box, or type your own set, such as A, E, I, O, U, or the letters your class is learning this week.
