About the 2nd Grade Math Homework
Second grade weeks start with addition facts within 20, then two-digit addition and subtraction with and without regrouping, one- and two-step word problems and length word problems in inches, feet and centimeters. Place value to 1,000, skip counting by 5s, 10s and 100s, expanded form, number names and comparing three-digit numbers follow in the middle of the year, then adding and subtracting three-digit numbers, counting coins, time to the nearest five minutes and the sides of shapes. A sheet spends about two thirds of its questions on that week’s topic and one third on review, so a week 25 sheet practices three-digit addition and reviews earlier topics such as place value or two-digit subtraction. The Answer Key for Parents shows the worked steps for each word problem.
