About the 3rd Grade Math Test

The third grade test includes topics commonly taught in third grade: multiplication and division facts, multiplying by multiples of 10, unknown factors, addition and subtraction within 1,000, rounding to the nearest 10 or 100, fractions of shaded shapes, comparing fractions with the same numerator or denominator, time to the minute and elapsed time, area by counting squares and area of rectangles, perimeter, naming quadrilaterals, mass and liquid volume, and multiplication, division and two-step word problems. Fraction shapes, clock faces, square grids and rectangles with labeled sides are drawn on the test. The answer key shows each step of a word problem, like 3 × 60 = 180 and 180 – 45 = 135.
