Questions
Starter banks
Example: 7 + 8 = ? - 15. The answer goes after the last spaced dash (or a tab), so a minus sign inside the question is fine as long as an answer follows. You need at least 9 questions; with 18 or more, New game deals questions that weren’t on the last board.

A Tic-Tac-Toe Review Game for Two Teams
Each square on this 3×3 board hides a review question. Two teams, X and O, take turns picking a square. The question opens in large type; press Show answer if you want to check it, then press Correct to give the square to that team or Wrong to leave it open and pass the turn. Three in a row wins, with the winning line marked and a burst of confetti. Type your own questions one per line, load the Math Facts or Science & Vocabulary starter bank, or switch to plain tic-tac-toe with no questions. A series score counts each team’s wins and the draws across games.
Play tic-tac-toe review in 3 steps
Add your questions. Type at least 9 questions, one per line, with an optional answer after a dash (“7 + 8 = ? - 15”), or tap Math Facts or Science & Vocabulary. To play without questions, choose Plain tic-tac-toe under Game type.
Name the teams. Type a name for Team X and Team O, and tap the X or O next to a name to change that team’s color. Press Classroom Presentation Mode to show the board big on a projector or smartboard.
Play and score. The team whose turn it is picks a square. Read the question, then press Correct or Wrong; the turn switches on its own. After a win or a draw, press New game: the questions are reshuffled and the other team goes first.
Ways to use the Tic-Tac-Toe Review Game
Test review before a unit quiz
Paste 18 or more questions from the unit into the question bank, split the class into two teams and project the board. Each team talks over its answer before one speaker says it out loud, and New game deals a fresh set of questions for the next round.
Math fact practice
Load the Math Facts starter bank or type your own facts, like the 7s times table. After a team answers, press Show answer so the whole class can check, then press Correct or Wrong.
Vocabulary review
Type a definition as the question and the word as the answer, like “A word that describes a noun - adjective”. Read each definition aloud while the teams race to claim three squares in a row.
Plain tic-tac-toe for a brain break
Switch Game type to Plain tic-tac-toe for a quick brain break or a talk about strategy: tap a square to place the mark of the team whose turn it is. Undo takes back a misplaced mark, and the series score keeps count of wins and draws.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this tic-tac-toe review game free?
Yes. It’s free with no sign-up. Your questions, team names and series score are saved in this browser, so they’re still there the next time you open the page on the same device.
What happens when a team answers wrong?
Press Wrong. The square stays open, a small dot on it shows it was missed, and the turn passes to the other team, who can pick that square or any other. Swap question puts a different question from your bank in the square, as long as the bank has questions that aren’t already on the board.
How many questions do I need?
At least 9, one for each square, and up to 200. With 18 or more, New game deals questions that weren’t on the last board. Answers are optional; a question without one simply has no Show answer button.
Does it work on a smartboard or projector?
Yes. Classroom Presentation Mode fills the screen, hides the site’s ads and shows the board, both teams and each question in large type. Where the browser supports it, the screen is kept awake while you present. Press Exit or Esc to leave.
Can I play with a keyboard instead of tapping?
Yes, in Classroom Presentation Mode or after you click the game on the page. Keys 1 to 9 open the squares from left to right, top to bottom. With a question open, A shows the answer, C marks it correct, W marks it wrong and B goes back to the board. U undoes the last move, and N starts a new game after a win or a draw.
Which team goes first?
Team X starts the first game. After that, the team that didn’t start the last game goes first, so the first move alternates between the teams. The line above the board always shows whose turn it is.
