About the Princess & Fairy Tale Coloring Pages

Fairy tales like Cinderella, The Frog Prince and Hansel and Gretel are hundreds of years old, and every storyteller draws them their own way. These pictures are ours: a Princess holding a flower, a Prince and Pony, a tiny Fairy with a star wand, a Pumpkin Carriage with curly vines, a Frog Prince on his lily pad and a Candy Cottage covered in sweets. None of them copy a movie version, so they are free to print for class. They make a natural follow-up to a fairy tale read-aloud, and the simple ones have big spaces for preschool and kindergarten.

Ways to use princess and fairy tale coloring pages

  • After a read-aloud

Read The Frog Prince or Cinderella, then hand out the matching page. Students tell a partner what happened in the story while they color.

  • Retell in order

Print the Pumpkin Carriage, Princess and Prince and Pony 4 to a page. Students color, cut and put the pictures in story order.

  • Design a candy cottage

Color the Candy Cottage, then have students write a list of the sweets they would add to their own house.

  • Dress-up day

On a costume or book character day, color the Princess or Fairy together on the board with Color on the Board.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these Disney princesses?

No. Movie princesses belong to the studios that made them, so we drew our own princess, prince and fairy from the old public domain fairy tales. They do not copy any movie character.

Which fairy tale pages are easiest?

Use the Simple filter for the pages with the biggest spaces, and print them with Bold lines. The Detailed pages have more small spaces for older students.
