About the 2 Minute Timer

Two minutes is the sweet spot for quick routines: lining up, a fast exit check or a short stretch. Put it on the projector and students can watch the ring move from green to yellow to red instead of asking how long is left.

Ways to use a 2 minute timer in class

  • Transitions

Give two minutes to switch from reading to math: books away, notebooks out, eyes up when the ring turns red.

  • Quick check-ins

Students answer one question on a sticky note or whiteboard before time runs out.

  • Stretch break

Two minutes of movement between lessons. The tick-tock sound can be turned off for a calmer break.

  • Turn and teach

One student explains the new idea to a partner for two minutes, then they switch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can students see the timer from the back of the room?

Yes. Press Classroom Presentation Mode to fill the projector or smartboard with the ring and the numbers, with ads hidden. Space starts or pauses it and R resets it, which works with most presentation clickers.

Does it make a sound when time is up?

Yes — a short fanfare plays with a burst of confetti on the screen. The ticking during the countdown is optional; use the speaker button to turn it off.
