About the 15 Minute Timer

Fifteen minutes is a common length for literacy and math centers, a short quiz or a group task. Students can see the ring move through green, yellow and red, which helps them plan their work instead of rushing at the very end.

Ways to use a 15 minute timer in class

  • Literacy or math centers

Fifteen-minute rotations give enough time to settle in and finish a task.

  • Short quizzes

Students pace themselves by the ring. Remind them to check their work when it turns yellow.

  • Group projects

Set a fifteen-minute work sprint, then stop for a quick share-out.

  • Independent reading

An upper-elementary stamina goal for reading to self or with a partner.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I turn off the ticking sound?

Yes. Press the speaker button to switch the tick-tock off — the setting is remembered in this browser. The fanfare at the end still plays so everyone knows time is up.

Can I use it for timed tests?

For classroom quizzes, yes: start it, put it in presentation mode and pause it if you need to stop the class. For official tests, follow the timing rules your school or test provider gives you.
