About the 90 Minute Timer (1.5 Hours)

Ninety minutes fits a block-schedule class, a long practice exam or a half-morning event. The timer counts in minutes, so it starts at 90:00 rather than 1:30:00. The ring turns yellow at 45 minutes left and red for the final 18, which gives a long block clear checkpoints.

Ways to use a 90 minute timer

  • Block periods

Show the whole block so students can see how the lesson’s parts fit into the time.

  • Long exams

A visible countdown for a practice exam or final, with pause for breaks and interruptions.

  • Project and lab days

Long enough for real progress, with red as the cue to clean up and save work.

  • Events and performances

Time a showcase, a reading marathon or a class party from start to finish.

How to plan a 90-minute block

Ninety minutes is too long for one activity. Plan three or four parts with a movement break in the middle, and tell students the plan before you start the timer.

MinutesWhat happens
0–10Warm-up and review.
10–30New material: model and practice together.
30–55Work time: practice, lab or project.
55–60Movement break.
60–80Second work round or stations.
80–90Wrap-up, exit ticket and cleanup.
  • Show the plan. Put the parts on the Visual schedule and highlight Now and Next as you go.
  • Make the break count. Pause the 90 minutes and pick something from our brain break ideas, or run the 5 minute timer for the break in another tab.

Keeping a long countdown on track

Over 90 minutes, small changes add up. If a fire drill or assembly interrupts the block, press Pause and Resume when you’re back. If the plan runs long, press Add 1 min a few times instead of starting over.

For long exams, keep the timer visible in Classroom Presentation Mode rather than in a background tab, turn off the tick-tock and keep the device plugged in so the screen stays awake. To show a shorter section inside the block, the Classroom screen dashboard can hold its own timer next to your notes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the timer really go up to 90 minutes?

Yes. The timer accepts anything from 1 second to 99 minutes 59 seconds, so 90 minutes fits with room to spare. This page opens it at 90:00; press Start when you’re ready.

Why does it show 90:00 instead of 1:30:00?

The display counts in minutes and seconds, so an hour and a half reads 90:00 and counts down from there. When it reaches 60:00, one hour is left.

Can I add time past 90 minutes?

Yes, up to the timer’s limit. Press Add 1 min as many times as you need; the time left can go up to 99:59.

Is the 90 minute timer good for exams?

For classroom exams and practice tests, yes: it’s big, easy to read and can be paused. For official or standardized tests, follow the timing rules your school or test provider gives you.
